art by Joey Richardson

Just discovered this artist through pinterest.  Amazing.  It came at such an appropriate time because I was thinking of a re-do of an art piece I did some years ago for a friend.
I was thinking of adding a pierced design to it.

Here's a couple pics of the piece I did some years ago...

Tips for Artists; How to Work on Commission

Just found this and thought this would be helpful.   This past June, I went to back home to Hawai'i and decided to bring my portfolio with me to see if I could sell my work in some of the art galleries.  I found one called Volcano Garden Arts.  I spoke to Ira Ono who was great.  I told him that I was new to selling out of a gallery and he was very helpful.   So, he looked at my portfolio and told me what he would want.  Now, I just need to produce some pieces to sell; he wanted gourd ornaments in the dot and pierced styles.   So, I'm very excited about this opportunity.  I'll post pictures on here of my progress with my pieces and keep you updated on my process with all this.

PMC (precious metal clay) class

On May 16, 2010, I had a class on precious metal clay with Lora Hart at SMC.  The class was from 9:30 - 4:00 that Saturday.   I really enjoyed the class and was inspired.   Looks like making art jewelry and miniature sculptures out of PMC will be my next creative outlet.  Here are pics of the items I made in class that day.

Days after that class, I was obsessed with looking for supplies and inspiration from websites and magazines for this new hobby of mine.   I have some of the supplies and just need to buy a cup warmer or something to help dry the clay.   A few times while looking through the online catalog of  http://www.wholelottawhimsy.com

http://www.cooltools.us and some other websites, I put tons of great things into my shopping cart.  Haven't bought anything on line yet though.  I need to wait until my next paycheck to determine what I can get this time around.   Well, I'm looking forward to what I will be making.   Right now the first project on my list is to make some earrings as a going away gift for one of my colleagues in the office.  She's leaving in July; so, there's time for me to design and make something really nice.   Well, another start of a new adventure.

I just discovered this inspirational website.   Check it out.   I found it while just web-surfing through some friends' facebook pages.   I was looking for inspiration and I found some.

Idea Cultures Blog

Since I'm on my blog, here's some things/tidbits.  I've been going through major creative block and slight depression for the past few months.   I think some of you can relate...part of not posting was because I wanted to be "perfect" and the blog needed to be "perfect."   Result was  PROCRASTINATION!  big time.   Well, I think I'm slowly coming out of it.  I bought a new digital camera which should help me get back into the swing of things.   I also bought a few self-help books to get me out of this creative and personal slump.   I need to get out of it soon 'cause I need to start some gourd pieces so I'll be able to enter some in the Gourd Competition at the end of June.   One more thing, I'm taking a PMC class this Saturday; I'm definitely looking forward to the experience.   Well, my journey continues...stay tune.
